4/30/2024 0 Comments Tomato timer reddit![]() It’s a method that seeks to find balance, making sure you’re productive but not at the cost of your well-being. It respects our need for focused work time but also acknowledges the importance of taking short breaks to rest and reset. Why has it stood the test of time? The Pomodoro Technique taps into the way our brains work. It wasn’t just a quirky college hack the method gained traction and has now become a productivity strategy used by people all over the world. Hence, the name “Pomodoro,” which is the Italian word for tomato. To combat this, he used a tomato-shaped kitchen timer to break his study time into intervals. He noticed that time seemed to slip away, especially during study sessions. Once you complete a set number of Pomodoros, you can take a longer break to really recharge.įrancesco Cirillo came up with this technique back in the late 1980s while he was a university student in Italy. This cycle is called a “Pomodoro,” named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer used by its inventor, Francesco Cirillo. You break your work into chunks, usually 25 minutes, and separate them with short breaks. The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method that aims to make you more productive and focused. What is the Pomodoro Technique and where did it originate from? The beauty of this diversity is that you’re almost guaranteed to find something that fits your workflow and personality. Some apps keep it straightforward with a countdown timer, while others offer a suite of features like task management, analytics, and even elements of gamification to keep you hooked. ![]() ![]() While the basic idea of the Pomodoro Technique is simple, the range of apps designed to implement it is anything but. You’ll find that this method, which breaks work into manageable intervals with rest in between, is more than just a fad-it’s backed by the psychology of how our brains function best. Thankfully, there’s a sea of tools aimed at boosting your productivity, one of which is the tried-and-true Pomodoro Technique. It’s a common struggle, whether you’re a student, a freelancer, or working a nine-to-five. Ever find yourself drowning in tasks and unable to focus? If so, you’re not alone.

![]() Not only was it tied with Bitdefender Free for the largest full-scan slowdown, but it had the largest background impact (after AVG AntiVirus Free) and a whopping quick-scan slowdown of 53%, the most among all the free programs.Beating long-standing industry names like Mcafee and Norton, Bitdefender has emerged as the top third-party antivirus software. It is clear that Avast is in last place in the free bunch. But its full-scan slowdown is 29%, tied with Avast Free Antivirus for last. Its background impact is only 2%, the best after Kaspersky. Meanwhile, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition doesn't have a quick-scan option. But it had a very respectable full-scan slowdown of 20% and a quick-scan one of 13%. Microsoft Defender Antivirus, aka Windows Defender, can't really be measured for background system impact because it's built right into Windows 10 and 11. In other words, you'd be trading a small amount of permanent background noise for huge slowdowns during full scans, which you could schedule to happen only at night while the computer is idling.Įstablishing the second-place finisher among the free programs is even more muddled. On the other end of the scale were McAfee Total Protection and Trend Micro Maximum Security, which had background impacts in the single digits, yet full-scan slowdowns of 96% and 57%, respectively. Two of them, Bitdefender Total Security and Kaspersky Total Security, had relatively high post-installation background system impacts, of 19% and 12%, respectively, yet traded that for fairly light impacts - 33% and 26% - during system scans. It's hard to determine a second place among the paid programs. But Avast's full-scan slowdown was the heaviest at 53%, while AVG's was less than half that at 25%. ![]() Likewise, Avast Free Antivirus (4.4%) had less of a background impact than its sibling AVG AntiVirus Free, (5.2%). You wouldn't notice ESET's 12% hit unless you were intensively using the processor already. ![]() You'd probably notice that full-scan slowdown even if you were just checking email. But McAfee's full scan hit our test laptop like a ton of bricks, slowing it down by 96%. For example, McAfee Total Protection had a relatively light background impact, slowing down the Lenovo laptop by only 9% after installation. Most other programs were less consistent in their rankings. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free's full-scan system impact was a barely noticeable 6% its quick-scan impact was a barely measurable 1%. It actually sped up the system a bit after installation, indicating that it may be more efficient than the built-in Microsoft Defender Antivirus, which runs by default but deactivates itself if a third-party antivirus program is installed. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free was the undisputed winner in the free categories, beating all rivals in passive, full-scan and quick-scan impacts. Kaspersky did have the second-lightest full-scan impact in the bunch, however. ![]() The lightest quick-scan impact among paid programs was held by Kaspersky Total Security at 22%, a percentage that was nearly twice as much as ESET's full-scan impact. That may be because ESET doesn't have a quick-scan option. Among paid antivirus programs, ESET was not the fastest in all three categories that we measured: passive system impact, full-scan system impact and quick-scan system impact. 4/30/2024 0 Comments What is silvadene cream forYou can place the order online or call Customer Service at 1866.920.3784. 4/30/2024 0 Comments Sketchup make image transparentIn my second attempt, by following good tutorials, I was able to isolate the critical skills and learn them one at a time, which produced much better results. In my first attempt to learn SketchUp, the main reason that I got frustrated and ultimately gave up was that I had attempted to learn everything all at the same time and without guidance. Start slowly and build up one skill at a time. I have continued the learning from David by following “”, a blog hosted by Fine Woodworking at which David is a co-author, found at. This incredible resource helped me gain efficiency and greater confidence, and was loaded with pro tips and tricks. David is a SketchUp guru who does a lot of illustration and Skethchup tutorial work for Fine Woodworking. While the SketchUp for Woodworkers site was a great resource to help me get started, I learned about another resource called “SketchUp Guide for Woodworkers – The Basics” by David Richards. SketchUp for Woodworkers: Next Level Training This liquor cabinet allowed me to incorporate glass shelves and a mirrored back panel, as well as a face frame that serves as a flange for easy installation. In many cases it was relatively easy to find a video on YouTube of someone demonstrating the answer to my exact question. I found myself using Sketch-up’s built-in help function a lot, and many of my answers were found easily that way. In other cases, I couldn’t find what I needed there, so I scoured the internet, and with that approach I was able to find an answer to each of my questions. So I started to design the project using SketchUp and the new skills that I had learned in the tutorials. It was slow going to say the least. ![]() After watching a handful of these videos and following along (I found it really helped my retention if I hit pause during the video and did exactly what the instructor was demonstrating), I felt that I was ready for a “real project”.Īs it happened, I was developing a story for WWGOA at the time that required the design of a dartboard cabinet. On this site I found a series of free video tutorials, where the host walks through the use of several key tools in the SketchUp arsenal. One resource that I found to be particularly useful was the web site. Given that SketchUp is a versatile tool that can be used for many applications (construction, interior design, landscape design, etc.) I wanted to find training materials specifically targeted for woodworkers. If you will use SketchUp to produce professional projects, “SketchUp Pro” is intended for you.Īfter the application is installed, you will want to determine your training plan. It is feature rich and offers more than enough functionality for most of us. If you are planning to use SketchUp for personal projects, “SketchUp Make” is the free version and probably the right option for you. There are two editions of Sketchup available on the web site, so it will be important to choose the right one depending on your needs. Getting Started with SketchUp for Woodworkers Therefore, I came to the conclusion that this time around I would seek out the training materials necessary to improve my chances of success. The tool set was different from other applications that I have used, and working in a 3D space using a 2D mouse proved challenging without some guidance. SketchUp was a natural choice for me because A) there is a robust version available for free, B) I have seen many example drawings that represented exactly the type of projects that I wanted to design with the tool so I knew that it was capable of performing my intended tasks, and C) because it is so widely adopted, there is an abundance of free and inexpensive self-guided training materials available.Ī few years back I had made a couple previous attempts to just “dive in” to the application but I found it difficult to master that way. ![]() I wanted to gain the efficiency of a “real design tool” that would allow me to work in three dimensions with a tool set that was purpose-built for detailed illustrations, so I finally made a commitment to learn SketchUp. All of these approaches left me feeling constrained, and I felt that the limitations of the tools were negatively affecting my designs. Prior to learning SketchUp, I had developed my designs over the years using pencil and paper, as well as a couple of general purpose computer applications that were not specifically intended for furniture design. Most of the woodworking that I do is custom, requiring original design, or at minimum a bit of modification of an existing concept. When it comes to kidney health, the BUN creatinine ratio test plays a crucial role. In this blog, we will explore the significance of the BUN creatinine ratio, understand its role in the body, and discuss its implications for kidney health. One such test is the BUN creatinine ratio test, which provides valuable insights into kidney health. The health of our kidneys is vital for our overall well-being, and various tests help healthcare providers assess kidney function. A high ratio may indicate dehydration or kidney disease, while a low ratio may suggest liver disease or malnutrition. It compares the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) to creatinine in the blood. Both dehydration and muscle breakdown from exercise may cause an increase in blood creatinine levels. Intense exerciseĬreatinine is present in the muscles and helps them produce energy. However, long-term studies have shown that high protein diets do not significantly impact blood creatinine levels over a 2-year period. ![]() What a person eats can affect creatinine levels.įor example, proteins and cooked meat contain creatinine, so eating more than the recommended amount of meat or other proteins for a person’s activity levels can cause high creatinine levels after eating. Obstructions affecting both kidneys can raise a person’s blood creatinine levels. The medical term for this condition is hydronephrosis. This blockage can create a backup of urine into the kidney and impair the kidney’s ability to function correctly. Kidney obstructionĪ blockage in urine flow, such as an enlarged prostate or kidney stone, could cause kidney obstruction. As the Romans conquered much of the world that was known to them, their numeral system spread throughout Europe, where Roman numerals remained the primary manner for representing The Roman numeral system for representing numbers was developed around 500 b.c. Combined with the lack of an effective system for utilizing fractions and the absence of the concept of zero, the cumbersome nature of the Roman numeral system, while it served most of the needs of the Romans, hindered future mathematical advances. Although the Roman numeral system provided for easy addition and subtraction, other arithmetic operations proved more difficult. The numeral system developed by the Romans was used by most Europeans for nearly 1800 years, far longer than the current Hindu-Arabic system has been in existence. Sega sponsored the group's "Wonder 3" tour, painting Sonic on the tour bus, distributing pamphlets advertising the game, and having footage of the game broadcast above stage prior to its release. The game's soundtrack was composed by Masato Nakamura of the band Dreams Come True. A group of fifteen people started working on the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, and renamed themselves Sonic Team. Sonic was created without the ability to swim because of a mistaken assumption by Yuji Naka that all hedgehogs could not do so. This concept was subsequently fleshed out by designer Hirokazu Yasuhara. ![]() Yuji Naka implemented the idea of a character running inside loops with an algorithm that allowed a sprite to move smoothly on a curve by determining its position with a dot matrix. The origins of Sonic can be traced farther back to a draft created by Naoto Ōshima in 1989, which years later turned into Sonic. When this pilot retired, he married a children's book author, who wrote stories about the Sonic character, the first which became the plot for the first Sonic game Ohshima stated that this influence can be seen in the logo of the game, which features Sonic in a pilot's wing emblem. To help sell the idea to Sega's higher-ups, Ohshima pitched the concept framed by a fictional fighter pilot that had earned the name "Hedgehog" due to his spiky hair, and had decorated his plane with images of Sonic. Sonic's blue pigmentation was chosen to match Sega's cobalt blue logo, and his shoes evolved from a design inspired by both Santa Claus and Michael Jackson's boots with the addition of the color red, which was inspired by the contrast of those colors on Jackson's 1987 album Bad his personality was based on then-presidential candidate and later President of the United States Bill Clinton's "Get it done" attitude during the 1992 presidential campaign. The detailed design of Sonic was aimed to be something that could be easily drawn by children and be familiar, as well as exhibit a "cool" attitude, representative of the United States at the time. On return to Japan, Ohshima pitched this to the department, and the hedgehog was ultimately selected as the new mascot. Ohshima felt that people selected it because it "transcends race and gender and things like that". Harinezumi ), led this informal poll, followed by Eggman and the dog character. Naoto Ohshima took some of these internal designs with him on a trip to New York City and sought feedback by asking random passersby at Central Park their opinions of the designs, the spiky teal hedgehog, initially codenamed "Mr. Many results came forth from their experiments with character design, including an armadillo, a dog, a Theodore Roosevelt look-alike in pajamas (who would later be the basis of Doctor Eggman's design), and a rabbit (who would use its extendable ears to collect objects, an aspect later incorporated in Ristar). While Sega was seeking a flagship series to compete with Nintendo's Mario series, several character designs were submitted by its research and development department.
